U3A - Activities

We attend different free and paid classes, that are offered in Astana by various organizations, such as Yoga class (kindly offered by Embassy of India for everyone), a 'Donut Party' at the American Cultural Corner (above), Tsigun classes offered by private instructor Marat Tuyakbayev, various musical and art events offered by Russian Cultural Centre in Astana and different activities for pensioners provided by Saryarqa Sovet Veteranov, an old organization from Soviet Union times.

Our next public event is planned for the 5th of December on the International Day of Volunteers. We truly believe that volunteering was and is an important part of society. Being volunteers in our early ages, we participated in many exciting activities, build cities we live now, cultivated virgin lands (an example is Astana), learned skills for our life time, engaged in networking and met our spouses and life-time friends. We hope to pass this practice of volunteering to the next generations.

We will also have a New Year meeting or a small party, approximately on the 7th of January, the Orthodox Christmas.

We have tried to have every second Sunday English Forum with Tom Holloway via Zoom platform. We prepared ourselves for the Dance and Art Performance Competition in Astana with International Jury (7th October, 2018 at Schoolchildren Palace). The picture was posted in November 2018 Signpost (thank you, Tom Holloway).

Our Dance Instructor is a private choreographer, Irina Gromova, @vipstudio2010, who has kindly volunteered her time (three times per week, an hour practice at her studio) and patience. We are building right now good relationships with Saryarqa Akimat (Mayor's House) and Sovet Veteranov. On October 29, 2018 we have gathered 70 Pensioners and we had a wonderful "Dance on the heels" Komsomol Party with songs, music and dances from 70s at the local Restaurant.

Please, contact us on the g_kassimanova@mail.ru email if you wish to get in touch with U3AKazakhstan, soon changing to U3AQazaqstan
