From Patricia Corby of U3A Clarence, Tasmania Location: Clarence U3A meets in the Rosny LINC complex (a fancy name which basically means where the Library is) on Hobarts eastern shore. The beautiful Derwent River separates Clarence from the Hobart city centre, a short drive over the Tasman Bridge. Membership: It was founded in 1993 and has well over 300 members. Activities: We offer courses in three 10 week terms; schools here in 2013 have just changed to 4 terms, our term dates used to approximately coincide but we have decided to stick to 3 terms as this best suits our programming. Classes are held on Mondays and Wednesdays. There are 3 one-hour sessions each day with a choice of courses in each session. Courses vary from term to term with a choice of 30-35 each term and members may enrol in as many classes as they wish, our program each term is advertised on our website http://www.u3aclarence.com/ Personal Comment.
Alongside my membership here I hold membership also in U3A Online where I can connect with people around the globe and interact and learn in my own time an absolute bonus during a recent extended period of illness and thus home confinement. |
