Comment:
It was in Headington in 1899 that Cecil Sharp, organist, pianist
and conductor, first saw a group of local men dancing 'Laudnam Bunches'
- complete with handkerchiefs and bells - accompanied by a young concertina
player, William Kimber. An incident that was to lead to the publication
in 1910 of 'The Esperance Morris Book' by Mary Neal and eventually to
the great revival of Folk Music.
