Location: Spire u3a is one of four in the Salisbury/Wilton area of Wiltshire. It meets in Harnham Memorial Hall, Salisbury.

Membership: Our membership is just over 100.

Activity groups: Our main meetings are held on the second Monday of the month. Doors open at 10am for coffee/tea. Display boards and announcements from Group Leaders keep us all in touch. The guest speaker starts about 10.30am.Our Newsletter is published approximately monthly, usually emailed to members just before the monthly meeting. Well illustrated with colour photos, it often runs to ten pages.

Interest groups come and go but normally include a mix of social groups that meet for coffee, lunch or online that are open to all, more focused groups looking at scientific or geological topics, longstanding photography groups, garden visits (summer), reading groups, poetry, arts and crafts. Some interest groups meet in members homes, others in Salisbury Library. Spire is currently recruiting for new groups - Recorder Playing, Painting/Art, Puzzlers and French Conversation.

Comment: We were established in June 1998 by a Steering Committee with the help of Phyllis Babb, then Chairman of Sarum U3A.

Three u3as united for the Millennium by presenting a sundial to the City. The words: ‘Time speeds up until it is nothing. Therefore use it before it is gone,’ were composed by Anne Boutell.

We are happy to welcome visitors from around the world and in 2023 welcomed one from Canberra.
