U3A Bridlington, Yorkshire UK to Toowoomba Australia --- Ian Byers reports on a walk on the other side of the world: As a member of three of Bridlington U3A’s walking groups I thought that it might be interesting to see if there was an opportunity to meet up with an Australian U3A walking group whilst I was visiting my daughter and her family in Toowoomba, in Queensland, Australia. I went to myu3a and found that Toowoomba does, in fact, have a U3A and so managed to obtain the contact details for Rhonda Weston, the present Toowoomba U3A President. |

Shandung University of the Aged, China to U3A Ipswich, Australia -- U3A Ipswich was invited to meet with a delegation from the Shandong University for The Aged and the Australia-China Business Development at Mayor Pisasale’s office on Thursday 26 November 2016, just following our AGM. This was a chance for newly elected President (Paulette) and Vice-President (Anna) to promote U3A Ipswich and establish contacts - our first international contact. During the traditional gift exchange, the Vice-President of Shandong U3A presented the Mayor with a stunning Chinese brush painting which the Mayor in turn promptly gifted to U3A Ipswich - with the approval of his guest of course! The Ipswich City Council is having the painting framed in time for the Mayor to unveil it on our Open Day on 24th January. |
