The
Positive Aging movement stresses the importance of encouraging older adults
to be proactive in support of all of the factors contributing to healthy
aging. The Pass It On Network emphasizes the capacity of older adults
to self-organize and help themselves and others find or create what’s
needed to thrive.
Their mission is to spread information worldwide about Positive Aging programs led by older adults who share their strengths to help themselves, each other, and their communities. They are developing an on-line directory of innovative resources to encourage program replication around the globe that is adaptive to local language, culture and needs. U3A
Online is an individual, independent and autonomous U3A. It is the
world-first virtual University of the Third Age delivering online learning
via the Internet. All that's needed to study online is access to a computer,
tablet or other device with an Internet connection - and some basic computing
skills. Our courses are open to all older people and disabled younger
people anywhere in the world. Three new courses are announced:--
The History of Mystery - This course traces the history of the
mystery novel
Food for Thought,
Western Philosophy -- starting on August 7th (with course leader)
Storytelling
with Pictures -- starting on August 14th (with course leader)
The
mission of the RSA (Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures
and Commerce) is to enrich society through ideas and action. It does this
by means of RSA-animate;
short essays using an innovative, accessible and unique way of illustrating
and sharing world-changing ideas. As an example, watch "Changing
Education Paradigms" All audio and video files produced by the
RSA public events team are available free to view and download. They allow
anyone to access their content electronically without charge.
The
new iOS map app has some lovely features,
brilliant for walkers and cyclists. It costs £5 but down-loading
offline maps to anywhere is free after that. There's a clever feature
where you can get an on-screen elevation profile between any two points
on the map ...

Bitcoin
has made plenty of headlines since the cryptocurrency first emerged in 2009,
but more recently attention has turned to its underlying technology: the
blockchain. Blockchains
are a way of storing information (transactions, in Bitcoin’s case)
in a distributed way: sharing it between many parties, thus doing away with
the need for a trusted central server. As a result a number of banks, including
Deutsche Bank, Barclays and Santander, have started exploring blockchain’s
potential to make payments faster, cheaper and more transparent.
However its potential use is vast. It could be applied to almost any form of record-keeping, agreement, contract or register. The UK government is to start exploring how it could use the blockchain for public services, such as registration for online voting. The
role of Telomerase in human ageing is becoming clearer due to the work
of Tasmanian
Dr Elizabeth Blackburn, Nobel Prize-winner and President of the Salk Institute.
Dr. Blackburn is a leader in the area of telomere and telomerase research.
She discovered the molecular nature of telomeres-the ends of eukaryotic
chromosomes that serve as protective caps essential for preserving the
genetic information – and discovered the enzyme telomerase, which
replenishes telomeres.

Age de l'AIUTA a été expérimenté. Cette initiative
est rendue possible grâce à l'appui de nos collègues
de Bulgarie avec Georgi Stankov et avec le soutien du Secrétariat
de l'AIUTA. Une première émission consacrée à
l'historique des Universités du troisième Age a été
réalisée en triplex avec Georgi en Bulgarie, Bilal en France

July 17th, first experience on new network AIUTA TV was set up. This new tool will push U3As development and will be a strong way to communicate between AIUTA members thanks with Bulgarian AIUTA U3A initiative. Elder-activists
is a vision -- of individuals who use their life experiences, reflections
and wisdom to inspire, educate and support each other in creating the future
that will be our legacy.

have fun together! Take Action - Participate
in rallies, letter-writing campaigns and boycotts. Write to your elected
officials. Let your voice be heard. Build Sustainable
Institutions - that will seed a positive future with food co-operatives,
time banks, and good neighborhood schools." 
Walk
and Talk Therapy originated in the USA in the 80s and has proved to
be an effective intervention that combines talk therapy, walking, and
the outdoors. Therapists who have used Walk and Talk Therapy stated that
many of their clients combined walking in the nature with holidays and
thus felt very high spirited. They not only opened up more easily, they
also improved their mental and physical health and at the same time reduce
their level of depression. Several research studies have shown that physical
activity can enhance the mental and physical health of clients.
In this project, the partners will develop a new course. Walk’n’Talk
course. As the name implies, this
course offer will not take place within the limited space situation of
normal classes, but outside in nature. To learn more click
