HISTORY/ART HISTORY GROUPS

Welcome to Britishbattles.com the site that gives you the battles fought by Britain and its Empire forces, lavishly illustrated (see our banner above) and fully mapped. Also included are descriptions of battles from both the American and English Civil Wars.

From Julius Caesar's landing in AD 40 right through to the land and naval battles of World War One, battles are described in full detail, including tactics, uniforms, weapons and personalities. Each battle and its outcome provides plenty of opportunity for discussion.

SOUTH AFRICA - Conference in Durban
You are cordially invited to attend the inaugural meeting of CommonAge Africa in Scottburgh, just outside of Durban, KwaZulu Natal, South Africa, on the 25th and 26th March 2019. The theme of the meeting will be “Connecting and Collaborating”. There will be a strong delegation from Nigeria and there will no doubt be a big push for U3A.

To confirm your attendance please send an email to Pam Govender Pam will then send you an invoice for your accommodation/meals/conference fee. In your email indicate if you wish to address the group on the work you do in your country, and if so what the title of your presentation will be (max time allowed 15 minutes).

Members of the Pass It On Network are living the Longevity Revolution “in real time.” There are three locations where the older adult population is growing past 30% of the population, and Pass It On Network Liaisons are activating the resources of elders to develop public programs that combat ageism and generate favorable social and economic impacts.

INDIA - U3A President Awarded

In a special function organized by Indian Brave Hearts on 23-12-2018 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, His Holiness Pujya Rashtriy Sant Balyogi Shri Umesh Nath ji Maharaj conferred National Gaurav Award 2018 upon J.R.Gupta, President of Senior Citizens Council and Executive President of Indian Society of Universities of the Third Age, in the presence of more than 900 eminent personalities, in recognition of his self-less service in the cause of elderly.

Senior Citizens Council distributed 275 blankets to needy poor persons at Deer Park on the occasion of Makar Sankranti on 14-01-2019. Such distribution has been continuously arranged by the Council for the last 15 years regularly in order to help the needy persons & save them from very cold weather.

INDIA - a Learning Blog

Empowerji App teaches a lot in a short time. It is an App for senior citizens to learn technology using just a smart phone in their own homes at their own pace. Hundreds of useful "how to" type of videos - short ones - just 2 to 5 minutes each - are provided. Whether it is WhatsApp, OLA booking, locating train timings, sharing your work - stories, poems, pictures etc with the community, shopping, booking cinema tickets - anything you can do with a smartphone -- you can find help on all of them in one place. NEPAL

Ageing Nepal in collaboration with several NGOs conducted a week long campaign in observance of Universal Health Day (UHC) 2018. More than 150 elderly got their eyes checked. Some basic medicines were provided free of cost. Elderly with cataract were referred to the hospital for surgery free of cost. Older people with placards and slogans demanded their right to health. AIUTA - Guinea/Senegal

UNITRA Guinea President, Madame Naye N'Dayo and UNITRA Guinea GB members welcome Professor Francois Vellas, AIUTA President, and Sidi Camara UNITRA Senegal President on their arrival at Conakry airport on Wednesday 29th January 2019.

UNITRA Senegal Governing Board Members and staff organised a very warm and friendly ceremony with youth representing the Guinea four regions to AIUTA Senegal. This AIUTA visit will focuss on the University of Third Age official inauguration ceremony in Guinea under UNITRA Guinea.
