EUROPEAN UNION

Report from Dr Anna Grabowska - Gdansk:
Seven members of the E U - Poland, Germany, Austria, Sweden, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Portugal - have come together to form SPADE, the Strategic Partnership for Digitally Excluded. It is estimated that up to 45% of adults in the European Union without a basic digital literacy are already excluded, discriminated against, or not adapted to the labour market. That is why the European Commission regards the development of digital literacy as playing a key role in adult education. This important Strategic Partnership for Digitally Excluded has been developed, whose ultimate goal is any kind of action that includes people at risk of exclusion, due to advanced age and/or deficits in education. Pollen Nation features articles on anything and everything related to flowers. In addition to a wide expertise on all things floral, they also offer ideas for lots of different occasions throughout the year.

For a truly exotic lesson (Japanese/Russian subtitles) this video of a National Ikebana Master is strangely uplifting. She never worked before the age of 30, until the Kobe earthquake in 1998, when she met the teacher, Okada Okada, then her life changed greatly, living as a hermit. "I worked in the Ginkaku Temple for ten years. Every day, I planted flowers for the Buddhas in the main hall, and lived the life of the hidden people".
