Cold Weather Payments are made during periods of very cold weather to help people pay for extra heatingcosts. To get a Cold Weather Payment, the average temperature where you or your parent lives must be recorded as, or forecast to be, 0°C or below for seven days in a row. Your parent may be able to get Cold Weather Payments if they are getting Pension Credit, Income Support and have a pensioner or disability premium. UK Warm Home Discount scheme
The Warm Home Discount scheme is a four-year scheme that began in April 2011 to help low-income and vulnerable households with energy costs. Participating energy companies will be providing a discount of £130 on the electricity bills of certain customers in winter 2012/13. You or your parent may qualify for this £130 energy discount if on 21 July 2012 (the qualifying date) they were either aged under 80 and receiving only the Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit (no Savings Credit), or aged 80 or over and were receiving the Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit (even if they get Savings Credit as well. Dobara Network: A recent study has found that telltale signs, including a sudden decline in walking speed, is linked to an 86% chance of having a fall within the next three weeks. This means that robotic movement sensing systems in the homes of elderly people can predict with a high level of accuracy when a person is at high risk of having a fall and send warnings to support workers or relatives, say researchers. Elderly residents who were monitored by the system, which allowed clinicians to intervene before injuries occurred, were able to live independently for 1.8 years longer than those without the technology.

Marjorie Skubic, a professor of electrical and computer engineering who is pioneering the approach at a residence linked to the University of Missouri, said: “Our goal is to help people age in the home of their choice, which in many cases will be their existing home. Jerica, Spain: On behalf Montse Amoros, AIUTA GB Member initiative, Bilal from AIUTA Secretariat participates to the new Jerica (Spain) official inauguration on saturday 4 february.
Jerica is a new initiative to develop education for all the life in rural areas and to host seniors students visitors. Montse Amoros AIUTA GB Member will present the Jerica U3A initiative and candidature to join AIUTA next GB in Bratislava.

Sous l'égide de Montse Amoros, membre du CA de l'AIUTA, Bilal du Secrétariat de l'AIUTA a participé à l’inauguration officielle de la nouvelle université du troisième âge de Jerica qui s'insère dans le cadre du développement de l'éducation tout au long de la vie en milieu rural. La nouvelle U3A de Jerica doit recevoir la visite d'étudiant séniors de plusieurs régions du Monde en développant des installations d'hébergement spécialement adaptées. Madame Amoros présentera cette initiative ainsi que la candidature de Jerica lors du prochain CA de l'AIUTA à Bratislava.
