These conversations are helped through a menu which has a list of questions for the seniors to answer including their memories of WWII, recollecting of local events that impacted them and sharing of their growing up years. Conversations can also grow organically. The hope is that through these simple conversations, there will be more understanding between the generations. Stereotypes can be broken down and new friendships gained. |

| COMPUTER GROUPS - a better Web | ||
Sir
Timothy Berners-Lee created the World Wide Web and the Hyper-Text Markup
Language (HTML) that underpins it in March, 1989. Today, the father of the
web is “devastated” and “sickened” by what has been done with his brainchild.
But he has a plan to change all that. “I’ve always believed the web is for everyone,” Berners-Lee writes. “… But for all the good we’ve achieved, the web has evolved into an engine of inequity and division; swayed by powerful forces who use it for their own agendas.” Those forces – corporations such as Facebook, Google, Twitter, and many more – have perverted the People’s web into “the current model where users have to hand over personal data to digital giants in exchange for perceived value.” To read the full text (highly recommended) click here>>> Reprinted from https://askbobrankin.com/ |

The official inauguration of the new U3A Project Lagos Center at 2018 World Elders’ Day celebration took place on Saturday October 27th at the Clam Event Center, Lagos. This was a red-letter day for the initiators of the project. Fifty members from the First Baptist Church, Broad Street, Lagos were formally inducted. Dr David Oludare Mark is the Director of U3A Project Lagos Center. The encouragement and go ahead for spreading U3A in Nigeria came from Prof Francois Vellas, President of International Association of Universities of the Third Age (IAUTA) when he visited Nigeria in February. “His message made an indelible impression on us and we feel confident that the U3A Project Lagos Center will soar to great heights and meet his expectations,” said Dr David Mark. |
