Our guest speaker is Dr Anna Grabowska, located in Gdansk, Poland. She qualified with a Masters in Science in Applied Informatics in the UK and a Ph.D from Gdansk University of Technology where she was employed until 2007. Since 1995 she has been a head of Authorized Academic Partner. Anna was a signature member of the Association of Academic E-learning. She is International Advisor to U3A Online and an active leader of an e-learning Erasmus+ programme.

To mark its 75th anniversary in 2020, the United Nations is conducting the biggest-ever global conversation on the role of global cooperation in building the future we want.

From January through to October 2020, the UN75 campaign will initiate dialogues in many settings, to listen to the hopes and fears of as many people as possible, to learn from their ideas and experiences about how to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030, and to leave no one behind.

Report by Dr Olga Subanova, of World Senior Tourism Congress (WSTC).
Olga holds a PhD in Economics, and works on the territory of the Russian federation and the Baltic states (Lithunia, Latvia and Estonia).

On the 11th of March, 2020 the roundtable “Universities of the Third Age in a global world” will be held in Moscow. This offers attendees from Russia and neighboring countries deep insight into the U3As movement. Participants will discuss current concerns and opportunities with the 'age tsunami' and long-life learning education. On the 12th of March, 2020 the roundtable “Tourism 20..35..50+” will convene to discuss case studies and best practices in developing senior tourism.

Delegates and groups of seniors U3As from Mexico City, Guadalajara, Puebla, Nuevo Leon, Mexiquense Bicentenario, Monterrey, Coahuila and UADU and Yucatán U3As participates to AIUTA Président François Vellas lecture in University Marista de MERIDA on February 7th, 2020. Discussions focused on New Mexican U3As national organizations and participations to join AIUTA and participation to next AIUTA events such as next Sherbrooke international conference on Innovation and U3As education for life long learning.

On invitation Teresa Orosa, Présidente de la Cathedra del Adulto Mayor, Prof François Vellas, AIUTA president participates to the U3A Workshop Universidad 2020, Congresso International de Education Superior 12ème in Havana, Cuba. This workshop lead by Claudio Ariel Urbano (Córdoba Argentina), Jose Alberto Yuni (Córdoba Argentina) y Juan Lirio Castro Toledo Spain met together U3As from Argentina, Costa Rica, Mexico, Panama, Peru Spain and Cuba Provinces on pedagogical and research exchange of experiences.

The results of the 2019 survey are now available in more detail. While some of the data has not changed significantly in ten years – for example our gender balance seems not to have changed much: 74% female in 2001, 71% in 2009 and 70% in 2019. However use of technology has really changed – we seem to be digitally literate and more connected, with 95% using the internet and 97% using email.

The survey means we have a great deal more data on our membership and this will be important in driving the focus of developing the movement in the coming months and years.

The U3A movement in India and several other asian countries is growing fast. So fast that WorldU3A is bringing back an earlier newsletter that ran for over a year, then stopped due to lack of input. The current issue under the banner 'U3A ASIA POST' has been launched and you can see it here>>>
